What is a 462 model, never heard of it, crazy price for a typical V/6 CJ5.

Mike - I would access the Jim Allen article from Winter 2018-2019 DISPATCHER edition. Too much too really to list in a post. But most of the 462 features are now missing from this one anyway. While I do believe it is what they say, what you are left with is a decent, high-desert 69 that is way over-priced. A $9500 69. Add 12 - 15K or more for a high end resto, and this model would still not command much more if any of this asking price. It's a known principle: Rare does not always equal value.

Thanks Barney, you have good insight & knowledge, it is appreciated.

Never heard of a 462.
The interim federally mandated side market lights are pretty evident.
Another good example of the circa 1968-69-70 "just stick 'em anywhere" philosophy is the English MGB.
Their rear lights were positioned above the rear wheel opening. Looks odd.
The eventual location on the lower edge of the front fenders is a much better solution, though requiring different fenders and a wiring connection.

John B - These are not side marker lights but are reflectors in their correct positions. A one year only feature for the 69 year model (actually mid 68 - mid/ later 69 ) ( we actually have them NOS in our inventory). The partial exception in placement is the right rear since the spare tire for this edition is on a factory installed Whitco tire rack in the back (now missing). With a stock side mounted spare, the reflector would be in the center of the tire. Absent the side mount (and no evidence there ever was one - 462) the reflector was raised. Only holes visible is where a CB whip had been mounted. Late 69 for the 70 model side marker lamps were required. Starting in 70 AMC moved the stock gas tank to the rear with a rear fill resulting in the backup lamps being elevated.

Thanks for setting me straight on the reflectors.
I have always wanted an early-ish CJ-5.
The late '60s federal regulations and sale to AMC brought a lot of changes for awhile.
