October 2026 Update

OCTOBER 2026 UPDATE

Welcome to October 2026, yes things look a lot different around here! If you want to expand all posts, click that EXPAND ALL in the upper right, if not try out our new CONTINUE READING buttons, I really like this feature and it provides a much smaller main Classic Page size overall if you don’t want to see every post expanded out.

First and foremost Thank You to the readers and followers of eWillys for hanging in there. The backend software was updated and we relaunched October 1st 2026.

If you are looking for the classic view please check out the link to the upper right Classic. Need a quick link you can copy this > eWillys Classic

Where is the archive of 60,000 posts with +100,000 Willys and Jeep History?

I am working hard to get those integrated into the software.

Surprised, horrified, shocked by the new look and feel of the site? Sorry but the old software was not able to be pushed forward. Behind the scenes and back in Dec of 2024 when I took over eWillys there were two key things in my hand written notes that still resonate with me today.

  1. With no Dave is there an eWillys?
    1. Absolutely yes, we have successfully navigated 2 complete rebuilds of eWillys and it is moving forward by “hook or by crook” as my Aunt would say. No one can replace Dave, match his passion for Willys and Flat Fender obsession. It was a labor of love for Dave in my opinion. Chasing down leads and recording the history of accessories, hubs, rare models, documents, advertising. It is a no holds barred collection of all things Willys. Please read our About page to discover some of eWillys history.
  2. How do we save the internet when it comes to a collection of 60,000 posts containing over 100,000 photos with 90,000 comments of all things Willys? All while preserving and honoring Dave’s body of work, adding too it and expanding eWillys into something future generations will find and hopefully share in this information?
    1. Well hang in there and follow along as we do exactly that. Change is never easy, 2026 has been a pivotal year for the eWillys family. We are doing well, the archive is safe, the site is on a new platform, and we brought back the Classic view in less then 5 days.

“I HATE THIS!”

Yes we have some passionate followers, I hate to read those types of comments, but comes with the seat. I am here to hear you out let me know your thoughts, it is super hard there is no staff of people here to do PR, webwork, posting, new content. But we have passion, there is a small group of us doing our part from Host duties, Andy seems to come to the plate with new links, which affords me time to ruin eWillys.

What’s New?

Well, what’s not? Not much, we are on a brand new platform, with brand new code, with brand new pages, layout links, formatting. Some features I have full control over, others you kind of have to work through it and bit. When it will take a few days to work it out I will launch alternatives to keep the site up then work to restore or get the other stuff going.

Pinned Post (Classic View) > ***New Added 10-7-2026

I always wanted in the old system the ability to pin a post to the top of the list, there were many times that I would have to re-publish an article manually to push it to the top. Now I was able t code that to the site so from Admin View there is the ability to Pin a post to the top of the the page, You will see a small RED Pin next to the post count, and will say “PINNED”, new posts will be below that PINNED post.

Email

No, not new, still available at post@ewillys.com

Comments

Since we are on new software, your very first / initial comment needs to be verified.

Type in your name and email, then your comment and submit, it will go away, I will review and it will post up. Out of the box the new software comments were sub par in my opinion, I did a lot of work on those yesterday Oct 5th. Please try it out.

Comment Features

Reply: reply to the above comment, sounds simple enough was not there to use.

Comment Count: This was in the upper left of the Classic View, its back. It was also readded to the bottom of the post it was always there as well, both of those are hotlinks direct to the comment section of that post, so you can navigate via those controls if you find that feature useful again.

Admin View Comments: They really missed the boat on the admin view of comments, it was a running list of approved comments but it never listed or linked to what post it was located in. That was fun to track down, so added that feature into my admin view.

Admin View Post List: On the post list I thought it would be handy to see how many approved comments were in the post and if they had pending posts it provided that count as well, then I hot linked that pending count to open the “needs approval” window, for a direct link to approve comments.

Contact Us

We have a new Contact Us page, I will say again, I really don’t know if the site ever had one, but it does now. Fill it out send me a note, I get them and respond to them. If you don’t get the email reply I may not be able to respond, resend with a correct email. You “should” receive a message in return that the Contact Us reached us. I absolutely got it typos and all, but not being able to reply when there is an ask I can help with or answer.

Ad Submission

The Ad Submission page was added to the site, that was a stand alone link before, its very dynamic, we require certain information to post a direct ad, plus some additional stuff. Mostly we share ad’s, my opinion on selling an old Willys / Jeep, Direct Ask, Multiple Ad Platforms, honestly we are not always the best place for direct single source ad’s. But we love to share all things, but my goal will never be to turn this into a constant feed of every vehicle for sale, not what I am interested in.

Basic Controls

CTRL and then +, will zoom into the site if your view is too far out.

CTRL and then - will zoom out from the site if you view is too far in.

CTRL and turn the Mouse scroll wheel up and down also does the zoom feature in and our.

Hang in there, we appreciate you!

Thank you for the support, I have enjoyed the opportunity to do this work to move eWillys forward. We have some exciting stuff planned for the site, along with some really big projects related to the archive, and we are working on that as you can see as fast as we can.

Have a great rest of the week!

Thanks, Tim

At my age, it would be nice to be able to count on something "staying the same". Unfortunately, that seems impossible these days. There is no comfort in uncertainty, and constantly trying to keep up with "changes" everywhere. I'm finding I can not. I'm not a fan of the new format, but the CLASSIC VIEW is pretty close. Thank You Tim for making me aware of that option. That said, I can not understand all that you and the others have had to do, and have to know to be able to do, "all that you have done"??? Quite the accomplishment!!! Thank you for your groups dedication and ability to keep eWillys.com going, and as the "cream to my morning coffee", I miss it when I can't see any daily additions. Lots of work... and lot of THANKS to you ALL for your efforts and the time involved. Thank You! SteveK

Hey Tim, thank you for the update and all the work you are doing to keep this going. With the website looking the same for almost 15 years change is going to be very hard for some people myself included! But with the ever changing way of technology it’s hard to keep things the way they are forever. Can’t even remember the number of times all the major social media platforms and online forums have gotten facelifts over the years. I’m excited to see all the old archives come back I would search them like an encyclopedia multiple times a week looking for information. If there is anything I can do to help please feel free to reach out. Matt

Thanks Matt, definitely keeping that Classic View. The way it had to work was stand up the posting first then what I refer to as the wrapper, if I did it backwards and did the wrapper then the contents it would be very hard to move it around as this is brand new software. Its a shame we could not do this in more of a controlled environment, the full story is over on OWF, Pete was stellar is allowing me to post a long thread on eWillys, at the end is way too much info on this whole ordeal. It's been a week for sure. I really like the Classic View and flow and have worked to maintain that. There just is no more old software, its all gone, but the contents and archive maintain, since there was alot of feedback on the Classic View, I moved that up the list. Which means Barry from FarmJeep, needs to hang in on his links which I want to repair those first. He is very patient with me, and I appreciate, his project is very special and I want to recover those links first, I feel we can do that but it's going to take a chunk of development. His will be the first to be restored, and we see how those go, its about 125 items of 60,000!!! Gotta start somewhere. Very proud of the Classic View, its missing stuff, most of that is intentional. This AM I loaded the 103 Categories that site had in the list, so that will be required to load in the archive, you cant see that side but it will populate in the next few days, that will allow the indexing of the archive and search by the Category. Also fixing stuff along the way like "cj5" was the old category and I am correcting that to "CJ-5" like it should be, I feel it was a typo whenever it was added long before me. Now when we bring the archive back in I will relink the cj5 to CJ-5, it will be seamless to most folks. So many small details. Thanks Again for following along.
